The Choral Society closes its 38th season with an enjoyable and engaging concert of music for chorus and jazz trio. The program includes Images by Rob Landes; Songs and Sonnets from Shakespeare by George Shearing; John Rutter’s Birthday Madrigals; and Jazz Mass by Gregory Yasinitsky, in addition to selections from
The Children’s Chorus (Bel Cantos).

The Alexandria Choral Society opens its 38th season with a performance of Paul Winter’s monumental Missa Gaia - literally Earth Mass - first performed in New York City in 1981. This extraordinary work combines the sounds of nature with Gregorian chant, jazz, world music, gospel, and traditional choral writing, creating a massive celebration of the world and its interconnectedness. The Children’s Chorus (Bel Cantos) will be joining us.
‘Tis the Season: Annual Family Holiday Concert

The Choral Society’s annual family holiday concert features the combined voices of the Adult and Children’s Choruses, together with organ and brass. The concert includes the winner of the 2007 Winter Carol Competition and plenty of carols for audience participation.

The sopranos and altos of the Alexandria Choral Society are joined by an ensemble of some of the finest string players in the Washington area, together with Paul Stetsenko (continuo and keyboard soloist) to present a delightful program of Baroque and Classical music.
The concert includes the beautiful Stabat Mater of Pergolesi, together with the joyously dance-like Lauda Sion of Cherubini. The famous Keyboard Concerto in F minor, BWV 1056 of J.S. Bach rounds out this engaging program.
No tickets required for this hour-long concert. There is a suggested donation of $15 to help defray expenses.

The Choral Society joins forces with the Alexandria Symphony Orchestra and Lucy Bowen McCauley Dance for an
inspirational concert of music and dance. The music includes Zadok the Priest
by G.F. Handel, and the famous Pavane by Gabriel Fauré in its rarely
heard original version complete with wordless chorus. Revel in the pure physicality of music!
